Geotextiles are permeable fabrics, made from either polypropylene or polyester. Geotextiles are used in the civil construction, especially in roads and fills to improve soil characteristics. The functions of geotextiles are divided into five categories: Filtration ,separation,drainage, protection and reinforcement, stabilization.
Geotextile fabrics come in three basic forms: woven geotextiles, non-woven geotextiles (needle punched), or heat bonded geotextiles (resembling ironed felt).
